Meet your local guide from Reims, Bezannes or Epernay:
OPTION 1: Pick up from Reims city center at 9:00am in front of the tourist office of Reims centre train station.
OPTION 2: Pick up from Bezannes (Gare Champagne-Ardenne TGV) at 9:15am in front of the main entrance.
OPTION 3: Pickup from Epernay city center at 9:45am at Moët & Chandon in front of the statue of Dom Perignon.
Drive through the Avenue de Champagne in Epernay, the capital of Champagne where some of the most prestigious estates are based (Pol Roger, Perrier Jouët, Mercier, Boizel, Moët & Chandon).
Visit the Moët & Chandon Champagne House (If not available can be replaced by a similar house), the most famous producer of Champagne, discover the champagne making process and enjoy some of the 150 year-old cuvee “Brut Imperial”.
Enjoy a moment in the vineyards, with breathtaking views on the UNESCO world’s heritage Champagne vines and acquire knowledge about the particularities of our “terroir”. You will then discover the village of Hautvillers, birthplace of champagne. Get to enter the church where the famous monk Dom Pérignon is buried.
Be welcomed in Mareuil-sur-Ay at a typical Champagne House (Le Clos Corbier). After a Champagne quizz, train your nose to identify the different aromas and flavors that can be found in champagne wines through an olfactory workshop.
Get competitive as you get to identify blindly 3 different champagnes from small wineries all while eating some local snacks.
Enjoy a casual lunch with paired wines and champagnes in a fun and familial atmosphere. Get introduced to local products like baguette, pâté croute, regional cheeses, pink biscuit, Ratafia… (the lunch can be adapted to allergies or specific diets).
Appreciate the charming hillsides of the Champagne region and peek-behind-the-scenes of a family-run winery. Visit the traditional press, tank room and cellars of an authentic champagne grower. Stroll down the cool cellar corridors and glance at the immense quantity of bottles slowly maturing. Enjoy several tastings of their best–seller “cuvees” and find the best values of Champagne!
After a day full of experiences and precious souvenirs, your guide will drop you off in front of the statue of Dom Perignon in Epernay at 5.15pm or in front of the tourist office of Reims centre train station at 6:00pm.
