Your Champagne tour can depart from Reims or from Epernay:
OPTION 1: Meet your friendly local guide in Reims city centre at 11:20am in front of the tourist office at Reims centre train station. Start your drive in our comfortable upmarket minivan through the vineyards to Epernay.
OPTION 2: Meet your friendly local guide in Epernay city centre at 12:00am in front of the Tourist Office of Epernay.
Drive through the famous Avenue de Champagne in Epernay, the capital of Champagne where some of the most prestigious Champagne houses are based (Pol Roger, Perrier Jouët, Mercier, Boizel and Moët & Chandon).
Leaving the centre of Epernay it's time for a stop to enjoy a moment in the vineyards, with breathtaking views of the UNESCO World Heritage Champagne vines. Your guide will tell you all about our “terroir” as you go.
Then discover the village of Hautvillers, the birthplace of Champagne, and visit the church where the famous monk Dom Pérignon is buried.
After Hautvillers you'll arrive to a warm welcome in Mareuil-sur-Ay at a typical Champagne house in the middle of the Champagne vineyards (Le Clos Corbier). During the visit to the Champagne cellars dug in the 1850’s, you can see the traditional press and learn about the secrets of the Champagne making process.
Immerse yourself into the French lifestyle with a traditional lunch of homemade regional specialties paired with a variety of Champagnes (the menu can be adapted to allergies or specific diets).
After lunch your tour continues on through the charming hillsides of the Champagne region for a peek-behind-the-scenes at a family-run Champagne house. Visit the traditional press, the tank room and the cellars of this authentic Champagne grower. As you walk through the cool cellar corridors take a glance at the immense quantity of Champagne bottles slowly maturing. End the tour with several Champagne tastings of their best–seller “cuvees” and discover the best value in Champagne!
After a day in Champagne full of experiences and precious souvenirs, your guide will drop you off in front of the tourist office of Epernay at 5:15pm or Reims centre train station at 6:00pm.
