Explore the Battlefields of the Great War – A Journey Through History
Recommended schedule: 8.00AM to 6:00PM.
Embark on a full-day guided tour into the heart of World War I history, departing from the Reims region (within 20 km). Travel comfortably in a premium minivan with your knowledgeable local guide.
This immersive experience will take you across some of the most emblematic and moving sites of the Western Front, including locations around Verdun and the Meuse-Argonne area. Throughout the day, your guide will adapt the itinerary to your interests, offering a thoughtful blend of memorials, former battlefields, trenches, and places of remembrance.
Walk in the footsteps of soldiers at poignant sites nestled in the forest, atop ridges, or buried beneath the soil in once-contested zones. Learn about the lives of French, German, and American troops, and witness how the scars of war still shape the landscape.
Depending on the day and your curiosity, your visit may include stops at ossuaries, preserved shelters, war cemeteries, and iconic fortifications (Such as hillock of Vauquois, ossuary in Douaumont, Fort de Douaumont or Verdun city center). You'll also hear stories that connect these historic sites to broader chapters of European history.
