Meet your expert guide at 9.00 am in front of the tourist office of Reims centre train station and start the day with the discovery of reims city center.
Drive by “Notre dame de Reims”, one of the first monument to be registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Absorb the historical atmosphere of the city, home of the coronation of more than 25 kings of France. Admire the “Grandes Maisons de Champagne” such as Taittinger and Pommery.
Thereafter, enjoy a full tour in the underground cellars of the prestigious Champagne House Veuve Clicquot as a first introduction to the Champagne making process and explore the 25 meter deep 2000 year old cellars. Finish the visit by savoring a nice glass of the famous “Yellow Label” Champagne.
Enjoy a moment in the vineyards, with breathtaking views on the UNESCO world’s heritage vines of Champagne and acquire knowledge of the particularities of our “terroir”. You will then Discover the village of Hautvillers, birthplace of Champagne. Get to enter the church where the famous monk Dom Pérignon is buried.
Drive through the famous Champagne Avenue in Epernay, capital of Champagne, where some of the most prestigious estates are based : Pol Roger, Perrier Jouët, Moët&Chandon, Boizel...
Be welcomed in Mareuil-sur-Ay at a typical Champagne House (Le Clos Corbier). After a Champagne quizz, train your nose to identify the different aromas and flavors that can be found in Champagne through an olfactory workshop. Get competitive as you get to identify blindly 3 different Champagnes from boutique wineries all while eating some local snacks.
Immerse yourself into the french lifestyle with a traditional lunch which consists in homemade regional specialties paired with a variety of Champagnes.
You will spend the afternoon alongside a champagne producer, get behind the scenes, visit the press, vat room, cellar and get to appreciate the tools and expertise of a small Champagne maker. Appreciate several tastings of their own production and acquire tasting knowledge with these rare Champagnes!
After a day full of experiences and precious souvenirs, your guide will drop you off, in front of the tourist office of Reims centre train station at 6.00 pm.
TRAIN INFORMATION IF YOU ARE DOING PARIS - REIMS FOR THE DAY:
If you come from Paris by train, book it as soon as possible to get availabilities and the best fares.
1. Weekdays (from Monday to Friday)
Take the 7.23am train (TGV Inoui 2707) from Paris Est which arrives at Reims Centre train station at 8.10am.
2. Weekends (Saturday & Sunday)
- Due to a lack of train which could arriving on time at the pick-up place, we recommend you to arrive the day before in Reims.
- However, if you can’t arrive the day before, you can take the 7.58am train from Paris Est which arrives at Reims Champagne-Ardenne TGV at 8.37am and join the tour at Reims Centre train station with a taxi / Uber to be ordered before you arrive (15 minutes drive).
When you arrive at Reims Centre train station, take “Place de la Gare” exit (Reims centre), we will wait for you outside the station in front of the tourist office.
Be careful, there are two tourists’ offices in Reims. The meeting point is at the train station tourist office, not the cathedral tourist office.
For the return train back to Paris: please take one from 6.45 pm.
