Take a tour through the wine route of Provence into the heart of the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation and visit some of the most beautiful villages in Provence, and in France... A true A La Française experience!
Start your day in Avignon where you will meet your friendly, local guide at 9am. Climb aboard your comfortable and upmarket minivan and be driven through Provence towards the wineries of Châteaneuf-du-Pape. Enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of this "terroir" from the ruins of the castle, the Popes' former summer residence.
Then, it's time to taste some delicious wines! Enjoy wine-tastings in the cellars of two top wineries in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Sample the unique taste of this local Provence red wine, the product of an exceptional terroir which is bathed in the sunshine of its wonderful climate.
After your winery visits in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, it's time to spend the afternoon immersing yourself in the unique atmosphere of the Luberon area and its villages, some of France's most beautiful ones! Your tour guide is an expert in Provence and its history and culture and will be ready to answer all your questions.
Your first village visit of the afternoon is to Roussillon where you will see its famous ochre cliffs. Don't forget your camera to picture this amazing sight! With all its different shades of brown, orange and red the pallette created by nature is truly amazing.
Next stop on your tour is a visit to the Luberon village of Ménerbes, a well-known village thanks to Peter Mayle's book "A Year in Provence". (From April 1st 2023, the stop in Ménerbes will be removed).
You'll journey on towards the important historical site of Pont Julien, an ancient Roman bridge. Following the roads through the Luberon you will enjoy a drive through the village of Lacoste, where you can find the Marquis de Sade's castle.
Indulge yourself with a photo stop in Gordes, a village perched high up in the Luberon, and known as one of "the most beautiful villages in France", famous for it's architecture made with dry stones.
You will finish your day trip in Provence with an appreciation for the culture, history and wines of the region.
Your tour guide will bid you farewell back in Avignon at 7pm.
