Lavender tour from Marseille
Your tour starts at 9am when you meet your friendly A la Francaise guide in Marseille. Set off in the comfort of our upmarket minivan and enjoy the picturesque views of Provence as you drive into the heart of the region.
Your first destination of the day is Pays de Sault, where lavender and lavandin are grown and distilled.
Arriving in the village of Sault (known as the "capital of lavender") you can enjoy some free time to wander and visit the lavender shops. Take the opportunity to taste local Provencal specialties like the nougat produced in the village with lavender honey and almonds or try some lavender ice-cream.
Next on your lavender tour is a visit to a local lavender producer during the distillation period. You'll learn all about the expertise employed in producing fine lavender essential oils.
Leaving Sault be prepared for the amazing views of the lavender fields. Get your camera ready as your guide will take you to a great spot for a photo!
After lunch, it's time to visit the ochre coloured village of Roussillon. Enjoy some free time visiting this famous Luberon village and admire its shades of brown, red and orange.
Next up is a visit to another of the Luberon's famous villages. Known as one of "the most beautiful villages in France", Gordes is perched high up in the Luberon. Admire its castle protecting the typical dry-stone houses of the village below.
After your visit to Gordes it's time for the drive back to Marseille. You will end your tour with an appreciation of the beauty of Provence, its landscape, culture and villages.
You will arrive back in Marseille at 7pm.
