Arcachon Bay and Medoc Vineyards Tour
8.30am: Meet and greet your friendly local and bilingual guide at the Bordeaux Tourist Office and drive to the atlantic coast and Arcachon Bay. Your guide will provide you with information about the stunning bay as you go.
10.00am: Visit and discover the amazing Bay of Arcachon!
The Bay of Arcachon is a beautiful bay located just 55 minutes' drive from Bordeaux. Its 1500 hectares is fed by the Atlantic Ocean forming an inland sea with the colors of a lagoon, bordered on one side by a fine white sand dune rising to 110 meters, called the Dune du Pilat. This dune is the biggest sand dune in Europe! From its summit, you can also admire the beautiful Landes' forest.
Climb the Dune du Pilat and be rewarded with a glass of white wine! Enjoy the amazing views of the ocean, the bay and the forest!
11.30am: Next up on your tour is a tasting of the famous Bay of Arcachon oysters* at a local producer. Your oysters will be paired with a glass of white wine and wonderful views of the bay!
12.30pm: You'll be driven back to Bordeaux and enjoy a picnic in the center of Bordeaux.
2.00pm: Depart Bordeaux and drive through the famous "Chateau Route" of the Medoc on your way to wine tours and tastings. Your expert guide will share all you need to know about the Bordeaux & Medoc wine regions as you go.
3.00pm: Your first chateau visit will be at a charming and authentic family-run estate (Chateau Lamothe Bergeron, Chateau Malescasse, Chateau Siran...). Feel the intimacy and authenticity of a private chateau run by a passionate family for generations. Start the visit in the vineyards, in front of the château, tour around the traditional vat room and discover the cellar.
Tasting class - Become a wine expert !
« Intense color, woody aromas, tannic taste... » Ouch !! What does it mean? You will learn the steps of a propertasting and will educate your nose in order to identify the wines aromas. We will give you our tips and tricks to taste like a pro!
At the end of the visit, you will enjoy some tasting of the chateau's wines.
4.30pm: Visit a Great Classified Growth estate (Chateau Dauzac, Chateau Marquis de Terme...). Visit the vineyards, the vat room and the cellars of the one of the most prestigious chateaux of Bordeaux. Enjoy some explanations about their wine making process, from the vine to the bottle. Finish the visit by a tasting of the estate's wines while enjoying an aperitif with French delicacies (cheese, fresh bread...).
7.00pm: Back to Bordeaux
